palace, another witness telling us there's been one clash between protesters and police after demonstrators started throwing rocks, debris, other objects, at police and police responded by firing at least one round of tear gas. for the most part, these demonstrations near the presidential palace have been peaceful, but with this clash, we're going to keep our eyes on things to to see if that leads to more violence. this is the first time these opposition factions have marched towards the presidential palace. this is, of course, part of today's big demonstration that opposition factions have dubbed the final warning, the seculars, moderates, liberals, women's rights groups protesting the president, his decrees in the process by which this constitution has been drafted. while that's happening at presidential palace you have another group of people, about 5,000, 10,000 people protesting here in tahrir square, again with chants of "cancel, cancel, we won't leave until he leaves" a reference to president morsi. the deck seems to be stacked against them and the moment seems to have

"outfront" tonight, a bright idea. brought to us by the liberal former governor of vermont, howard dean. a man who brought us the scream heard around the world when reran for president. dean says let's face it, america, tacks need to go up for everyone. now, this might not be what you expect from someone like howard dean. it's certainly not the president's position or the position of most americans. another new poll out today shows that most people like the president's idea of only raising taxes on other people. specifically, the top 2%. the problem is according to the congressional research service, the math doesn't add up. that tax hike would only give $678 billion in additional revenue over ten years, now, remember, we're $16 trillion in the debt. now, if we go with howard dean's idea, that gets us $2.8 trillion or about 17% of our debt. adam davidson is the cofounder of planet money and he did the math. he wrote in "the new york times" a while ago, a set of numbers that has stuck with me ever since that increasing the middle class tax burden 8

the united states as we speak. and all of this just as millions of us are packing our bags and planning to travel to see our families for the holidays. much of the midwest looks like this. three screens for you. some people could be stuck in up to a foot of snow. half dozen states across the midwest from nebraska to minnesota and wisconsin all under blizzard warnings right now. in iowa, tens of thousands of people have already without power. this storm is not just hitting the midwest, it's unleashing a chain reaction of extreme weather even farther south, as well. i want to take you down to texas. take a look at this. this is not what you usually see from the tower cams in texas. the intense winds stirred up a major dust storm there. and this caused a 23-vehicle pile-up. one person was killed, and at least seven people sent to the hospital because of this. in alabama, not far away, the storm system spun off at least one tornado near mobile. and that damaged homes, as well, and brought down power lines there. as i mentioned, all of this could not come at a worse time. this is one of the

on full display. so now as the party debates to modernize, it has to repair the image. and that leads us to lesson three. demographics are destiny. romney won a higher percentage of the white vote than any candidate since ronald reagan in 1994 beating obama among white voters. by 14 points among white women. five points among independents. he won all the groups by more than george w. bush did in 2004. but he lost the election by a wider margin than john kerry. why? because the composition of the electorate changed. as the obama campaign predicted more than a year ago, the white portion dropped from 2008 to 72% in 2012. the president carried nearly eight in ten nonwhite voters including astounding 71% of latinos, 73% of the asian voters and 93% of black voters. remains a real question why the democratic nominee can hold the obama coalition together but the republican party is right to be reexamining the relationship with minorities. finally, lesson four, don't ignore the data. the polls matter and more are right than wrong. though public polling consistently showed the president ahead, th

using a file that you can down load on the internet. you can actually down load it right here. i have one on my computer. it makes me wonder about the next time nbc comes and checks my computer. this is what happens when a person fits a lower receiver on a gun that is not regulated when they printed it with a 3d printer. this is the video they released of themselves firing bullets out of it. as you can see, the 3d gun failed and busted apart after it fired about six rounds, which makes it yes, a gun, but the technical term for what kind of gun it is is it is a crappy gun because it blew apart. but this kind of thing is not going to stay a crappy gun for long. not when you can get this far with stuff you can find around the house. for all the work that has gone into thinking about who is allowed to have a gun in america and where you can buy one and what kinds of guns people are allowed to have, that all kind of goes out the window. people can just down load their chosen weapon at home and have it made manifests at their desk, as a fully functioning real-life weapon. we are not far off

and that gunman is dead. as police have been telling us now, 20 children dead, 18 of them dead at the scene. and in addition to that, six adults are also dead, including the principal of the school. we understand that yet another adult was found dead at another location that police are not officially disclosing as of yet. and we are told that the mother of the suspected shooter, who is also dead at the scene, was also killed. she is a teacher and she was also killed at that school, according to our law enforcement sources. in addition to this, we are also told by our sources that another person is being questioned at this time but is not being called a suspect right now, and also that person is not being identified, wolf. so while the school is being called secure and safe by law enforcement authorities right now, they are -- they still have a lot of investigating to do. they have not officially released the name of the shooter or the other person being questioned or the names of any of the victims at this time. it's just an awful scene, and parents found out about this, wolf, when they rec
